Knee op by steelrat (356 reads) | Just thought I'd let you all know that I've now had the operation on my knee that I've been waiting for for so long. I had an arthroscopy carried out and the surgeon found a torn meniscus which he removed. I left the hospital an hour or so after the operation was completed and managed to carefully walk back to the car, which I wasn't driving! (Thanks, Helen!)
I'm currently sitting on the settee with my feet up. :)
Don't think I'll be training for a while now... but I don't expect you'll notice the difference anyway! :D

CINQUE PORTS AIKIDO SUMMER SCHOOL 2007 by steelrat (317 reads) | AikidoJoe writes "BY SENSEI JOE MCENROE
I would like to thank everyone that attended the Cinque Ports Summer School on Fri 6th and Sat 7th July 07. My self and Julian decided to cancel Easter School due to both of us having an overload of work outside of Aikido. It was mentioned to us, “why not have it later in the year”, so we thought about it and contacted all the coaches for availability for teaching. To our amazement everyone could make it, so we set the date. Julian and my self felt that it turned out to be a great success. We have already booked the venue for next year.
Many thanks to the following Instructors for first class tuition. Sensei Jack Poole, Sensei Maryll Pool, Sensei Gary Masters, Sensei Roy Shepherd, Sensei John Jenkins, Sensei Steve Billett, and Sensei Tony Evangeloe and a big thank you to Mandy and Abigail for all their hard work in making sure everyone was kept fed and watered. Mandy also kept the Community Centre clean and tidy over the two days and cleaned up after everyone had long gone home.
A special thanks to C.P.A. members who helped move and lay the mats.
Saturday night was a good night at the Kalaya Restaurant in Folkestone. Some interesting events, like a fake 60th Birthday sing song, was it really your birthday Tony Evangeloe? Every one enjoyed the evening. Needless to say some students were worse for ware the following day, falling asleep in peculiar places, out on the green and in the ladies changing room balanced on a bench and a toilet at the Wycliff hotel. Would anyone like to name and shame????
Julian and myself both look forward to arranging next years event. If anyone has any suggestions please let us know.
Sensei Joe"
